No. The USA never was, and is not, a Christian nation. References to God were just thrown in to make people feel good, but those references have no legal force of any kind. The whole point was to have a nation where there was no official religion.

Thank you for setting the record straight. Although you are talking to the wall. The Declaration of Independence specifically states that men are endowed by THEIR Creator, not OUR Creator or THE Creator with Clearly this opens the door to an open belief in any kind of creator or none at all. The Constitution does has nothing in the Oath of Office or its qualifications that require any religious view at all.

Yes it was!!! Because the preacher man on the TV told me it was, right before he told me that God wants me to send all my money to the preacher man! So I sent him my money and went back to cleaning my gun! Ain't no socialist going to take away my gun or my Bible! Yee-haw!

America was born out of a need to not to act in the European mode anymore. Religious freedom, no monarchy and no government by only the rich people was a new change.

Kind of like Senator Obama governing in a new way that does not require partisanship, bickering and backbiting people.

America is slow to change sometimes but it is faster than most or our European counterparts.

I am a Christian. American patriots were majority Christian but that did not govern their policy in setting up a nation. However, we are known as the most Christian nation in the world.

No. Most of the Founding Fathers were Deists, not Christians. Deists believe that a higher power created the universe, then stepped away. In other words, there are no rules handed out by the supreme being, and there is no Bible. Deism is a far cry from Christianity. The New World was all about religious freedom, which means there is NO official religion. PERIOD.

Yes it was. Meaning that is the history, the basic values of Christ are ingrained in the constitution.
I do not dispute your quotes.
That is why "the separation of church and state" Religions can have more power than governments and they can be even more corrupt than governments.
Consider that the Islamic religion is a also a religion of government. the religious police in Islamic countries can arrest any citizen, (even a non Muslim) for breaching religious laws. For example they can arrest and whip a women who shows her hair. It is perfectly legal.
Consider the Catholic Church who have had immense power throughout history.
At least a basic Christian will have more of the ideals of what America stands for than a person who is sympathetic with Islam.
But don’t knock religion too hard. It helps the majority of the worlds population explain their existence and comforts them.
